Laura Linney has been hailed as one of America's most well-known actors. Linney is renowned for playing strong characters that are equally at risk. Her father was a celebrated playwright, but Linney was raised as an only child by her single-mother and nurse. In the summer and with her father Linney was able to develop a passion for theater. She eventually studied acting first in Brown University then at Juilliard School. In just two short years following graduation she began her Broadway-based career. Following that, she made her debut in the world of film and television. Since then, she's appeared in countless films and stage and TV productions. She received many accolades during her professional career, which included several Primetime Emmy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards. However, in spite of all the awards she has received the theatre is still her primary passion and she continues to perform both on stage and screen.
