April Lockhart

April Lockhart was born on July 4, 1995. In seventh grade she began playing guitar and taking piano lessons, sparking her passion for the art of songwriting. The song that she first wrote for April was Different which she composed when she was 12 years old. at the age of 14 years old, April was spending a lot of time writing her lyrics, and perfecting her music ability. After that, she started taking excursions to write with her father, who lived in NY in New York and LA. April began to include additional relevant subjects into the Take my Hand song for some of her friends, like peer-pressure problems and teenage suicide. Lockhart works in partnerships at popular clean beauty brand Ilia and is also a lifestyle blogger with her own growing following. Lockhart was born with no left hand. It's one aspect of who she is, but it's far from the entirety of her story. Lockhart's Instagram profile doesn't hide her disability but doesn't focus solely on her disability. The point is? The message? We can all be multifaceted and our identities and physical selves are not all that they appear. Lockhart in a video message sent from Nashville's house, states that I don't wish to let this make me feel like I am a victim. I'm much far more than just my physical body. It doesn't impact my daily routine. I conduct my business as usual and have developed different ways of adapting. But it's also a part of me so I think that it's important to speak about. Lockhart is a great example for self-acceptance in general she is currently on a long journey to achieve it. Still she admits she's gone through phases of her body at times being unsure about wearing certain types of clothing which accentuated her arms. Nowadays, she dresses anything she likes and uploads images of her outfits to the internet with a sense of pride. It's a journey is the most important thing that I'm not sure when you will arrive, her self-love statement. This is a process, and I'm not convinced that you will ever make it to the end. It is important to have people within your circle who understand and appreciate you. They'll be able to remind you about the issues you're concerned about.
